Blue Rectangles and Circles

Curator's Notes

This is one of the first pieces of art our founder, Matt, ever collected, and it remains one of his favorites, hanging in the entry of his apartment.

His love for the piece stems from the simplicity of the shapes and colors, along with the interesting background of artist Muriel Favaro who helped design the first Kate Spade bags. Muriel infuses her background with geometric textiles into the geometry of her pieces.

Framing

Materials: High quality white wood frame. Piece is float mounted on top of a mat board. We selected a float mount vs. a traditional mount that sits on top of the piece, so you can see the edges of the piece. We find this adds a richness to the work.

Each frame is custom-cut and assembled by hand to match your piece. Hanging hardware is included.

Size: The frame is 3/4" thick, with a 1" border around the piece. Frame adds 3.5 inches to the L and W.

Edition

Limited edition etching

Medium

Muriel's prints and and etchings made by hand.

Muriel Favaro

One of the first designers for both Kate Spade and Jack Spade, Swiss artist Muriel Favaro infuses her fashion background into her work. Since 2009 she’s been a  professor in Parsons Fashion Design BFA program. Prior to that, she held senior positions at Saks, Tocca, LeSportsac, and Kenneth Cole, and others. She also serves as a design consultant for a wide range of fashion companies. Muriel's textiles and art focus on geometric patterns and colors. We love the simple lines and colors of her pieces. Collecting Muriel's work and recommending her pieces to friends was a tremendous inspiration for our founder, Matt, to launch Wallace.
